Here we have what might be our most perfect box: A vintage flannel shirt. A vintage Levi’s Trucker jacket. If we could only ship one box, it might be this one. But uh, we like to think there’s such a thing as too many denim jackets, at least for some people. Read the full letter and see more photos after the jump.
Hi Trey,
Thanks for subscribing to Comma, the Vintage Menswear Subscription Service! Here’s what you get:
Levi’s 70506: Glad to ship this your way in box number one. It is, in our opinion, the perfect denim jacket: The Levi’s 70506, dating to the mid to early 1980s. It’s 100% cotton, made in the USA, with heavy brass hardwear and heavy, durable denim. Earlier versions lack the hand pockets, which we find not worth the frustration. Newer versions are either sized a bit strangely or made with lesser fabrics. But this one: This is it. Well-broken in, but with plenty of life left. We hope you love it as much as we do, and are glad to know that you’re on the hunt.
Flannel Shirt: As you said you’ve got a taste for flannel, we’re happy to ship what we consider the best of (the Levi’s 70506 of flannel, to extend the metaphor.) Five Brother made flannels that were heavy yet soft, breathable yet warm. That’s because they used Cone Fabrics Brawny Flannel, made by the same people famous for their denim. The brand itself hasn’t been around for years, though a private equity firm tried to resurrect the label about ten years ago by selling reproductions of this exact shirt for $200. 100% cotton and made in the USA.
And a Hat! Heard you were into Aspen, so figure this 80s hat might be welcomed.
