Comma, Vintage, is the world’s premier vintage menswear subscription service. Or put another way, we ship you a box of random used clothes in the mail. It’s okay to have questions.
In two to three weeks. We keep a small inventory on hand, but we do not want to commit to rushed shipping lest we commit to an inferior product. In many cases, we have to find the best item for you after we receive your survey. We ask that you allow us some time to make sure you’re satisfied. That said, we ship nearly all first boxes within 10 days of subscription.
Nope. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to take personal requests. Instead, we hope that part of the fun is never knowing what you’re going to get. Unlike other menswear subscription services, we don’t claim to solve the problem of getting dressed in the morning. If anything, we want to make it more difficult by delivering one-of-a-kind, awesome items that can be worn twelve different ways.
Maybe. Do you spend hours every week at estate sales, consignment shops, thrift stores, and garage sales, and take with you a well-developed knowledge of clothing design, brand, and manufacturing history? If you do, then eventually you might find the kind of clothing you’ll receive in every Comma. Send us an email and tell us what you find! We’d love to connect.
While we do occasionally ship items that far outvalue the cost, we’re also responsible business owners. If your expectation is to regularly receive selvage vintage Levi’s, Schott leather jackets, and maybe a Led Zeppelin t-shirt from 1973, this isn’t for you.
We handle unsatisfied customers on a case by case basis. If you’re unsatisfied, we accept returns and offer a full refund. If you like some things but not all, we’ll figure out a solution that works. Sometimes, that means an exchange. Or, you can pass the item on to a friend and we’ll make up for it on the next shipment. In order to keep our initial costs down, we do not offer unlimited exchanges like some other clothing subscription services.
Probably not. While we make every effort to ship clothes the way you like, we also can’t promise that our shirts will feature your favorite shoulder measurement or that our t-shirt hems will fall within half an inch to wear you want them. We want things to fit well, but we hope you have a bit of flexibility in fit so that you can enjoy the other aspects of what makes vintage awesome.
Not explicitly. Our expertise is in menswear, and that’s the only thing we feel comfortable curating. But only the clothes are gendered; our customers can identify anyway they please. If you feel that items traditionally labeled as menswear have a place in your wardrobe, then sign right up and we’ll put together a package that works.
Every Comma contains a personalized note describing the contents. We know that part of the fun of wearing vintage is knowing the stories behind it. We pass them on to you, but hope you’ll have your own to write in the coming years. We specialize in American-made clothing from legendary brands. Check out some examples on our blog.
Usually, it’s worth more than you paid for it. While we hope you’re not subscribing in order to resell goods, you likely could. Select Commas contain heritage items that far out-value the subscription cost.
We clean everything we ship to our best judgement, but make no guarantee that it will meet your personal standard. Machine washing a denim jacket, after all takes away the contrast of its fades. Sweaters, even when dry cleaned, begin to lose their brightness and toughness; we’d also have to pass that cost on to the consumer. We’d rather not accelerate the aging process of vintage goods through excessive cleaning or raise our prices to accommodate for it, so for the most part we leave it up the recipient. Should you have concerns, we encourage you to clean items to your preference before wearing them. That said, we never ship anything that we ourselves wouldn’t wear out of the box.
