To be candid, I don’t ship a lot of vintage shawl collar cable-knit made in Ireland LL Bean Sweaters. But sometimes I do, and I’m always excited to do it because I can count on a satisfied customer and the assurance that a terrific piece is getting a new home. Oh and this Pendleton tie, too.
Hi Scott,
Thanks for subscribing to Comma, the vintage menswear subscription service! Here’s what you get:
LL Bean Irish Cableknit Shawl Collar Sweater: Well? There are only so many adjectives one can knit together, but short of elbow patches this sweater has them all. It’s 100% wool made of mélange yarn with purple and green flecks throughout. The cableknit pattern is featured on both the front and back, a sign of true quality, and the neck features a shawled collar to keep the wind off while allowing room for a tie to poke through. Altogether a terrific piece and I’m glad to share it with you.
Pendleton Necktie: Speaking of wool, here’s a plaid wool tie from one of America’s most famous woolen mills. Pendleton has been churning out quality pieces like this for far too long. I know you didn’t mention ties in your survey, but I do hope you get a chance to wear this a couple times a year.
